The next book in this series is West Virginia, the leading state inscrip use. The total number of coal companies and company stores and different pieces of scrip from WV is roughly equal to the rest of the country combined.

The first part of the book will be an outline of West Virginia history
through the scrip years. The second part will be a sample of the scrip issued in WV. Each coal company will be represented by a single scrip piece, the best photograph we find of a piece from that company. There were about 1100 different companies issuing scrip, so even with limiting the number we will have a sizable collection.
